S has just posted to say she doesn't think she likes using her name as her DW account and is asking her flist how they came up with their usernames. I thought that was quite an interesting question and it makes me want to ask you guys How did you come up with your username?

Mine is based off the character Lucifer Morningstar from the TV show Lucifer. The basic premise of the show is that Lucifer got bored of hell, left, is running a nightclub in LA and working with a homicide detective. He makes no secret of who he is, goes by the name of Lucifer Morningstar. One of his brothers, Amenadiel, calls him Lucy which I love because... well because it's name.

And so... [personal profile] lucymorningstar is me
although Morningstar clearly isn't my surname. (For anyone who's wondering, I changed it by deedpoll a few years ago so it's Anderson, the same as J and S)

Mine's a typo of my name, Kim :) A million years ago, when I was still new to fandom, someone typed my name as Kaim. I threw a "y" in there to make it feel more *right* to me, and ta da!

Well I'm somewhat statuesque...

More to it than that, in that I'm from the north of England, but not as far north as the statute

I've had several identities online. One was a nickname added to another nickname. One is [community profile] oraclegreen, which is two of my favorite comic book characters with their names smushed together (Oracle and Green Arrow). But mostly my names are just words I like. I love language, so picking a new name for a platform is a delight.

A long, long time ago, back in 2002, I was looking for a handle to use on Theonering.net. I was very into Crowley's tarot deck at the time, and so I thought of Princess of Geeks. Also I tend to be kinda princessy when I get the chance.

So I kept that name across several platforms... I was princessofg on LJ, due to character limits, and then went to the full name here on DW.

On AO3 I signed up soon enough to get simply PRINCESS as my author name.

It's a fun question.

My username dates back to LiveJournal days - I went to university in Norwich, Norfolk, and the username has just stuck. :)

Johannes Kepler was one of those astronomers you hear of, who gets big NASA projects named after him.... I learned about him in an astronomy class. He was before Newton. He was captivaeted with the distances between things orbits and objects and was determined to model the solar system in tems of these 3D models of the Platonic Solids (the only super symmetrical (not a real math term) 3D shapes in geometry. (I think there are 6 in all --cube, pyramid,...) Anyway he fiddled with these models trying to explain astrological distances which seems very studious and sciency... He was, after all, a genuine sciency pioneer.

When asked about what keeps things in orbit (why objects don't just fly away? Why they do these circle-y paths? (answer being gravity, gravity not yet figured out by anybody)) His super sciency answer was that they were guided by angels.

I've always loved that. The space between what we can and cannot explain and how we fill it....

It's also the name of my imaginary femme punk band that does not exist outside of my head.

Croeso!

I'm Lucy, a 30-something woman who is trying to figure out this whole 'life' thing.

I'm bisexual and poly, living in North Wales with my partners J&S. I'm a home maker, love to bake and cook, and am a huge sci-fi fan.

I haved lived for so long under the shadow of a number of mental health diagnoses, letting them define me rather than just be part of me. For too long I've been "Lucy the Schizo" and I want to find out who 'Lucy' is

Welcome aboard my journey. I'm glad you're here and looking forward to getting to know you as we get to know me!
